howtolosemoneyfast.com: what the lottery actually costs you
Why I built this
After writing a Python script to analyze my father’s lottery tickets, I wanted the same thing in a form that doesn’t need Python. Almost everyone has a web browser, so I built howtolosemoneyfast.com, a free, privacy-focused web app that shows people what playing the lottery actually costs them. Most players have never seen their cumulative spending laid out, or compared it to what that money could have done elsewhere.
What it does
Checking numbers against past draws
Enter the numbers you usually play, and the tool checks them against every official EuroJackpot or Lotto 6aus49 draw in the database. You get the number of draws checked, any winning draws (probably none), your win percentage, total spent, total won, and the net profit or loss.
The ETF comparison
The tool also calculates what your lottery spending would be worth today if you had put it in an ETF instead. Seeing compound interest run in your favor instead of against you tends to be the part that makes people stop and think.

The app is available in English, German, and Spanish.
Privacy
All your data stays in your browser’s local storage. No accounts, no tracking. Your numbers and spending history never leave your device.

The psychology of loss
People don’t feel small, repeated losses the way they feel a single large one. Spending €2.60 twice a week feels harmless. €270 a year, or €2,700 over a decade, does not. The tool adds those invisible losses into one number, then shows what that number could have become.
